Extended Pentatonic Licks - Live4guitar Lesson

€7.00

Minor pentatonic is by far the most common scale to use in all styles. In this lesson, we’ll explore some ideas based around different extended/combined shapes in E Minor Pentatonic. Players like Paul Gilbert use this approach in their playing a lot!

Lesson includes: Backing track, Guitar pro 5 tab, Slow video demos and Full video performance. **

Instead of using the traditional 5 positions of the CAGED system which have 2 notes per string and can be restrictive, we’ll see how to visualize more than one position within a group and use our familiar 3/note/string patterns. We will also see different combined shapes and patterns, not necessarily with a symmetric number of notes per string.

By learning to play the licks you will improve your:

• Stretch fingerings

• Fretboard knowledge on extended pentatonic shapes

• Combined picking, legato and tapping technique

• String skipping

• Left hand tapping

• Overall muting

**This lesson was originally published to live4guitar.com over a decade ago, so although the lesson is of high quality, bear in mind the video resolution is basic compared to today’s standards.
